L'Unicef denuncia, in un mese distrutte 47 scuole ad Haiti

PORT-AU-PRINCE, 28 FEB - Il Fondo delle Nazioni unite per l'infanzia (Unicef) ha denunciato che nell'ultimo mese le organizzazioni criminali haitiane hanno distrutto complessivamente 47 scuole nella capitale Port-au-Prince, in quello che ha denunciato come un'accelerazione degli "incessanti attacchi" delle bande contro "quel poco che resta del sistema educativo del Paese". La distruzione di queste scuole si somma a quella dei 284 edifici danneggiati nel corso del 2024 "lasciando centinaia di migliaia di bambini senza un luogo dov studiare". "L'istruzione non è mai stata tanto minacciata", aggiunge l'Unicef. A causa di attacchi, allontanamento forzato dalle famiglie dalle proprie case e aumento della povertà l'Unicef calcola che un bambino su sette ad Haiti non va a scuola e un milione è a rischio di dispersione scolastica. Il Fondo sollecita lo stanziamento di 36,5 milioni di euro per garantire a 600mila bimbi haitiani continuino ad avere accesso all'istruzione.
