Libertà su cauzione per moglie dell'ex premier pachistano Khan

ISLAMABAD, 24 OTT - Bushra Bibi, la moglie dell'ex primo ministro pachistano Imran Khan, è stata rilasciata oggi dal carcere di Adiala a Rawalpindi dove era rinchiusa dal 31 gennaio scorso. Ieri, l'Alta Corte di Islamabad le aveva concesso la libertà su cauzione per un caso di corruzione che riguardava una costosa parure di gioielli del valore di 71,5 milioni di rupie pakistane (circa 250.000 dollari) che sarebbe stata acquistata da Khan e dalla moglie per una frazione del suo valore, pari a 2,9 milioni di rupie (circa 10.500 dollari). La parure era stato un regalo del principe ereditario saudita Muhammad Bin Salman nel maggio 2021, quando Khan era primo ministro, ma non era stato comunicato allo Stato. Secondo la legge pachistana, infatti, i funzionari pubblici sono obbligati a riferire e depositare qualsiasi regalo di Stato di valore superiore a una certa soglia. Dopo il suo rilascio, Bushra Bibi è partita per Bani Gala, la residenza di Imran Khan, alla periferia di Islamabad.
