Russia's state-run natural gas export monopoly, Gazprom, resumed deliveries to Ukraine after a 234-million-dollar prepayment, Gazprom's head Alexei Miller told journalists. 'Ukraine has requested the maximum supply regime of 114 million cubic metres per day,' Miller said, according to the Interfax news agency. Russia cut off its deliveries to Ukraine in July after the sides failed to agree on pricing, but a deal was clinched last month for supplies for the upcoming winter. Ukrainian state gas company Naftogaz agreed to buy the supplies for 232 dollars per thousand cubic metres between 01 October and 31 March - down from a contractual price of 251 dollars. Cash-strapped Ukraine has been heavily dependent on energy from Russia and is also a key transit country for gas to Western Europe.
