Dieci morti in Mali in un presunto attacco jihadista

Twelve people comprising of five terrorists, five Mali soldiers and two foreigners were killed in a hostage siege at the hotel Byblos on 07 August 2015. Terrorists seiged the Byblos resulting in Mali government troops having to storm the hotel. One of the foreign victims was reported to be a member of the UN peacekeeping mission (MINUSMA) and one was from South Africa. This attack is the third assault in a week. Mali is still trying to restore stability following the advance of Al-qaeda linked fighters which led to a war in 2013. A peace deal agreed to in June 2015 was hoped to end years of unrest and ethnic divisions. EPA/STR
